Our Services

Preventative Care

Preventative care plays a crucial role in maintaining the overall health and well-being of your pets. We prioritize preventative care as a proactive approach to detect and address potential health issues before they become more serious and expensive to treat. Through regular wellness exams, vaccinations, parasite prevention, and dental care, we aim to provide general services for all pets, ensuring they live long, happy, and healthy lives.

Laser Therapy

We are excited to offer the newest in Companion Animal Healthcare: Laser Therapy. Our furry friends deserve the best, which is why we provide a non-invasive, drug-free, and relaxing session with our Companion Therapy Laser. It works wonders for pets experiencing chronic arthritis, wound healing, orthopedic injuries, dermatological issues, and age-related pain. By utilizing an intense light beam, this innovative therapy stimulates cellular metabolism, promotes healing, and reduces inflammation. It’s like having an internal heat source that soothes deep tissue and jump-starts the healing process.

Dental Care

Maintaining proper oral care for your pet is essential for their overall well-being. Neglecting dental care can lead to issues like tartar build-up, gingivitis, tooth loss, discomfort, and even systemic infections. It’s important to remember that all pets, regardless of size, have the same number of teeth, making dental care equally important for small and large dogs alike. Fortunately, there are simple ways you can promote dental health at home. Providing dry, hard kibble helps scrape away tartar, offering safe, hard chews allows for natural teeth cleaning, using a water additive can break down build-up, and brushing your pet’s teeth with enzymatic toothpaste a few times a week is highly beneficial. Our staff can even demonstrate proper brushing techniques!

Ultrasounds

An ultrasound exam is a non-invasive way to visualize your pet’s internal body parts. By sending sound waves into the body and measuring the echoes, an ultrasound machine creates images of the organs without any harmful effects. This diagnostic tool is commonly associated with pregnancy exams in humans, but it is also helpful in many other situations. Ultrasound allows us to assess organ location, size, shape, texture, and blood supply. While the majority of the exam involves gentle pressure, sometimes additional diagnostics may be needed for a definitive diagnosis. During the exam, your pet will be gently restrained and may even enjoy some ear rubs or take a quick nap. Dr. Wheatley may recommend an ultrasound for reasons such as abnormal bloodwork, chronic digestive issues, unexplained weight loss, urinary changes, follow-up on pre-existing conditions, fluid in the chest or abdomen, pregnancy, or pre-surgical assessment.

Radiology

Radiographs (x-rays) are a widely used diagnostic tool in both human and veterinary medicine. We are proud to offer a state-of-the-art digital radiology machine that is cloud-based, providing faster imaging and instant viewing for our staff, you, and your pet. Digital radiology significantly reduces the environmental impact by eliminating the need for chemicals, film, and developers. It also allows for easy adjustments and retakes, minimizing stress for your pet. While we hope not to use it frequently, our team is excited to provide optimal care and minimize stress when imaging is necessary. Digital radiographs can reveal conditions such as an enlarged heart, collapsed lung, GI blockage, broken bones, orthopedic issues or degeneration, bladder stones, and the position of internal organs.

Bloodwork

Verifying internal chemistry values through diagnostic bloodwork is crucial for diagnosing and treating illnesses in your pet, often before they show any symptoms. This proactive approach allows for disease prevention, quick recovery or adjustment, and effective treatment. A small blood sample can be drawn by either Dr. Wheatley or one of our technicians, and the results are usually available within 15 minutes. Through our partnership with Antech, a leading diagnostic laboratory, Greenbrier Veterinary Services can diagnose a wide range of conditions and recommend appropriate treatment protocols. Diagnostic bloodwork can help identify conditions such as diabetes, kidney disease, liver disease, thyroid abnormalities, heart disease, and heartworm infection.

In-Home Visits

Greenbrier Veterinary Services is dedicated to offering gentle, compassionate, and professional in-home veterinary care to residents in Evans, Grovetown, Martinez, Augusta, and the surrounding area. Dr. Wheatley provides a wide range of services, including wellness exams, vaccinations, companion therapy laser treatments, and more, all within the comfort of your own home. Whether you have multiple pets, stress-prone animals during car travel, or elderly pets with special needs, in-home veterinary house calls offer a convenient and affordable solution while minimizing stress for your pet. Many preventive care procedures, as well as diagnosis and treatment for various illnesses or abnormalities, can be effectively performed at home. By eliminating anxiety-inducing factors like car rides and veterinary clinics, your pet can feel more relaxed and open during exams, leading to easier diagnosis and treatment. Additionally, veterinary house calls save owners both travel time and expenses.
